Profile of Miss Emma

This is my personal favorite from our session by the bridge, and I’ve struggled long and hard to find a proper BW treatment for it

That’s rare for me, since I’m so bad with colors (silly cones, just won’t work right, lol), but I just LOVED the way this one came straight out of the camera.

But I think I’ve finally found the way, thanks to help from some awesome LightRoom presets I got from Amber Carbo Privizzini

Miss Emma, near the bridge

OK, so it’s been WAAAY too long since I made a blog post. I know, I suck at this.

But here’s one now, of a fun session with Miss Emma near the bridge.

Oktoberfest!

It’s October! That means … OKTOBERFEST!

Now through midnight on Friday 9 October, everything in the store is 30% off when you enter the code “OKTOBERFEST” in the “Add promotional code” field on the checkout page.

I don’t yet have photo sessions in the online store (still working the kinks out of that part), but the 30% off applies to those, too, if I get your deposit before midnight on the 9th.

(Also, now seems like a good time to remind all y’all that if you or someone you know is looking for a unique and memorable gift, the photo session needs to be completed before Thanksgiving in order for finished prints to be ready in time for Christmas.)

He kindly allowed me to make his portrait, and this is the result.

198639_10151099207452129_729764872_nWith the weekend nearly upon us, it’s time for another Print of the Week!

This time, it’s one of my most popular pieces (which is why I only have TWO of these left – one 11×11 framed and one on an 8.5×11 sheet, unframed).

“Kokopelli” is from a sequence of shots I got while on a trip to Santa Fe, where I came upon a wonderful man playing beautiful music on handheld Native American instruments. He had this steel sculpture out in front of his shop, and I found it quite captivating.

The result is what you see here.

Silver print, selenium toned, 11×11 inches matted and framed to 16×16 inches. $250-

Pigment on paper, on an 8.5×11 inch sheet. No mat or frame. $60-

Price good through 20:00 (that’s 8PM) Eastern, Sunday 23 August 2015.

A gorgeous day at Epsom Bible Church

It was a gorgeous day for a worship service and picnic at Epsom Bible Church.

In a grand tent

EBC-2015-08-02.001

many people gathered,

EBC-2015-08-02.002

both the young

EBC-2015-08-02.003

EBC-2015-08-02.004

and the young at heart

EBC-2015-08-02.005

and heard a mighty sermon and beautiful music.

EBC-2015-08-02.006

Wait … what do you mean I’m not the only photographer here?

Hello, friend!

EBC-2015-08-02.007

After the main service, the day was made even more special for these worshipers, as they went to the river and were baptized as a declaration of their faith

witnessed by a multitude

Then, it’s time to EAT! (Can’t have a picnic without food, right?)

Here, the judges are hard at work deciding which is the best potato salad

EBC-2015-08-02.013

Aaaaaaaaand the winner is …

EBC-2015-08-02.014

Getting busy at the grill

EBC-2015-08-02.015

After lunch comes my personal favorite part of the day …

… kids being kids!

For the little ones, there’s a bouncy castle

EBC-2015-08-02.016

complete with slide!

EBC-2015-08-02.017

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

EBC-2015-08-02.018

For the bigger kids, there’s a bigger bouncy castle

EBC-2015-08-02.019

boingy boingy boingy …

EBC-2015-08-02.020

This one also has a slide … but it was sitting out in the bright sun all day, and got so hot that the kids couldn’t slide down it.

So Scott got busy with the hose to cool it down

EBC-2015-08-02.021

so the fun could re-commence!

EBC-2015-08-02.022

Sometimes his aim seems to be a bit off, though …

EBC-2015-08-02.023

The day also featured some mining for squirt guns …

EBC-2015-08-02.024

some pupil/teacher moments

EBC-2015-08-02.025

and this gratuitous piece of randomosity that I threw in here just because I thought it looked really cool.

EBC-2015-08-02.026

I hope all y’all enjoy seeing these images as much as I enjoyed making them! 🙂
